Song Review #2.2: King Tetrus & Ugly Smile Pt. 2

Updated: Jan 28

As independent musicians ourselves, we know how important helpful feedback and support is, so we give each song a thorough review based on what they said their skill level was, and our opinion of the beat, cadence, lyrics, and replay value. Take a listen to these two artists and let us know what you would've rated them!

Ugly Smile- Evil Side (9.29)

Ugly Smile really has us feeling good about the evil side! This upbeat track and silky smooth vocals remind us of a scene in a coming of age movie that just makes you feel! We won't be surprised to see this song along with many others from this band featured on the big screen!

What inspired the song?

This song is about one of our friends that committed suicide.

What message or feeling do you want listeners to get from this song?

Real feelings.

Critiques: We struggled finding areas of opportunity with this unique track. We felt the lyrics, enjoyed the production, and overall felt this was a very solid creation. This track is easily Ascendance approved!

King Tetrus- First Date (8.22)

King Tetrus brings back the simple art of storytelling in such a vivid and poetic way that you can't help but to start grooving. That matched with his undeniable wordplay and effortless cadence makes this a song you want to get added to your playlist immediately!

What inspired the song?

I love story raps - I feel like it’s a lost art. I always feel like people say what’s for you will always be for you but how can destiny be for you when everyone has one.

What message or feeling do you want listeners to get from this song?

It’s a date with destiny - everyone has a destiny . This is my love story with my future .

Critiques: First Date is a track that has heavy replay value. Between the beat, his flow and the dope cover art, the only way it could've been any better would just be some extra vocal layers. Ascendance is a fan and approves this song!

We encourage you to check out each of these artists either on our Ascendance Family Playlist or the links attached and let us know how you would rate each of these songs. See you next time with more indie reviews!
