We were blessed with the opportunity to get an hour with upcoming female rapper Dasmonique. Originally from Delaware now residing in Georgia, this independent hip hop artist is ready to claim her spot at the top while changing the industry for female artists! While on her spiritual journey, all she does is hustle to get herself into her intended position in life. She's focused on personal growth, transitioning to a multi-genre artist, and most importantly being heard. Not only did she just release her hit single "Smell Like New Money," she has multiple projects on the way along with shows in the near future.
"I don't chase, I attract everything in life."
What Advice Would You Give To Artists?
"Just start. Put one foot in front of the other and go. Don't feel like you have to have X,Y,Z just freakin start!"
How Do You Tame Your Ego?
"I killed my ego through spiritual exploration in order to overcome past trauma and grow as a person and an artist. Now when I find myself in a triggering situation I write down the situation, calm myself, then read what I wrote. I work through the trigger and find a solution to ensure it isn't a repeated situation and reaction."
What Marketing Strategy Has Been Your Go To?
"TikTok! Being myself and letting others ask me about my music while networking instead of shoving it in their faces. Giving out free merch. My top secret marketing strategy that I recommend for all artists is Tinder! Trust me it works!"
What Is Your End Goal?
"Making a huge dent in the industry while shedding a light on the indie community. I see myself writing songs for other artists while thriving in my personal career. TV shows, movies, I see so much for myself even in just the next ten years."
Dasmonique is a chameleon in this music world. She is hustling like never before and understands that this journey is only in the beginning stages but far from where she started. Dasmonique is currently creating consistent content that is available on all streaming platforms with so much more to come, and we the Ascendance family are excited to check out.
