A Message to Society With Genre - Fluid Artist Corri

Updated: Aug 25, 2021

CEO and Founder of King and Queen Records, Corri is a Nashville Tennesse Resident who is heavily pursuing his dreams to be an artist. The amount of work ethic he has surpasses many in his position and he does not plan on stopping. As seen in his latest project "Amethyst" Corri draws inspiration from many genres and artists, but he is heavily influenced by one of the greatest to do it, Nicki Minaj. Before hearing her he liked music, but once he heard her flow he fell in love with it. Although he is fully unique, when you listen to his songs you can hear the influence Nicki has on his lyrics and flow.

"Keep doing what you love to do because no one should be able to stop your happiness. Do what makes you feel like you. "

- Corri

As a member of the LGBTQ community who also raps, Corri realizes that there aren't many artists who are wanting to work with him because of how open and free he is about his sexuality. But he really doesn't care, he plans on being a part of changing the industry so that diversity is not only accepted but desired.

What is Your Genre?

"Primarily it is hiphop, but I would say I am genre-fluid. One day I'll make a rap song, the next day I'll do an rnb song, then a pop song, I even did a punk song before. I never want to be in one lane doing one type of music, because I listen to all genres and it gets boring doing the same thing over and over, so I like to dip myself into different genres"

What Keeps You Motivated?

"The future keeps me motivated. Knowing what it can look like and what I want it to look like. I dont see the future looking any dimmer so if i start something I am going to finish. "

What Does Your Work Flow look like?

"Typically it starts with me finding a beat, which isn't a easy task because I am very picky with my beat selections. Once I find my beat I just freestyle for a bit and write from that. I typically can write 3 to 5 songs a day. "

During our Interview, Corri spoke about a live performance for his group KQ in November and hinted multiple times about something that has him excited and has for sure piqued our interest. I would stay tuned to hear about that news as well as learn more about the performance coming up in November.
